The Tourist Excellence Plans are a series of projects financed jointly by the Central Spanish Government, Autonomous Communities and local governments, for the purpose of:
- Improving the quality of tourist services
- Improving the urban and rural environment
- Extending and improving areas for public use
- Adding value to tourist resources and creating new products
- Arousing awareness among the local population in respect of caring for and maintaining their natural and urban environment
This is a four-year project (2004-2007) in which the General Secretariat of Tourism (GST), Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Cantabrian Government, and the Borough Council of Santoņa all take part. The total amount invested is 3,600,000 euros, financed in equal proportions by all three administrations suscribing the agreement.
