The inhabitants of Santoņa and visitors to the town can enjoy two beaches, one of which is Berria, a long beach that sometimes has strong tides, but is safe for bathing thanks to the presence of lifeguards.
Berria beach is located to the north of Santoņa and was formed by the dragging effect of two sea currents in opposing directions, north-south, and south-north. Santoņa was once an island and its waters flowed into this part of the beach, but the water outlet was blocked by the action of the winds, forming a sandbank and a line of sand dunes covered with vegetation that gradually preventing the water from reaching the sea, thus creating an isthmus which is now Berria beach.
